The journey of Sugar Sisters started over the fence when Jo Dodd and Jay Carey became neighbours. Jo arrived from England in 2003 to take on a Healthcare position in Wellington. Both with English roots the two quickly became best friends and Soul Sisters with a strong love of food and healthy eating. Having always used cooking to relax, Jo made the giant step to retrain as a Chef in 2009.
The idea for Sugar Sisters was born at the Kitchen table. The two wanted to create a company that would embrace peoples food differences rather than see them as a negative. Both have had personal experience of living with alternative diets within their own families and the frustrations of being able to enjoy celebrations without someone being singled out to feel different. They have supported each other through personal life changes and observed first hand the healing power of food.
